Eco Day Extravaganza in St Mary’s

31st Mar 2023

Today was our Eco Whole School Day of Action for 2023. There was a jam-packed schedule of eco related activities today in school which the pupils all thoroughly enjoyed. First up was the Shanghai GAA jersey raffle. There was super excitement and tension in the air as our School Council Chairperson and Eco Committee Vice Chairperson selected the winning ticket. The winner of the raffle was Caolán in P4. Congratulations and well done to Caolán. Caolán will now select his jersey from the O’Neill’s website which will then be ordered. A massive thank you must go to everyone who participated and contributed to the raffle. An astounding £370 was raised in total which will be used for eco projects around the school. Thank you sincerely again to everyone. After the excitement of the raffle the annual Big Spring Clean began as the pupils from P1 to P7 participated in our yearly Big Spring Clean of the school. The pupils utilised the litter pickers and bin bags provided by John from Mid Ulster Council who kindly left the resources to school. Thank you to John and Mid Ulster Council for their help with today’s Big Spring Clean. The scheduled walk to Aghaloo GFC unfortunately had to be postponed due to the adverse weather but this will be rearranged for hopefully some day next week. Thank you again to everyone and please keep the great Eco School work going.
